Samsung plans on having the batteries in all of its phones released in 2012 be able to last an entire day on a single charge. In an interview with CNET, Samsung vice president Kevin Packingham said that the company wanted all of its phones to be able to last from morning till night with moderate use and no recharging.
In order to achieve that goal, the company will start using larger batteries in its phones, as well as optimize some of the phone components for improved battery life.
Samsung’s phones are likely to get at least a little larger in order to hold all the extra juice. The recent trend has been to make thinner handsets, however, the move could be what the industry need to push things back in the functionality direction.
For me personally, I have the original Galaxy S and it will only survive about 7 hours on a full charge. Sadly I am one of those people that surf on the web and check e-mails constantly, so I would not mind having a bigger battery at all.
What do you think? Would you rather have a super-thin phone you have to charge during the day, or a thicker phone that can make it all day on a single charge?
